With yesterday’s storm pulling out of New England, we headed to Pico Mountain (get lift tickets here), my home hill, for a quick pre-work dawn patrol. As you may recall from their 1980s slogan, Pico is the Friendly Mountain. Nevertheless, at 645 am, just shy of 4,000′, with the wind blowing fiercely out of the north, and the temp below zero… it didn’t seem so friendly.
Well over 18″ had fallen during the storm, and there were plenty of friendly faceshots to go around.
We all had full work days scheduled, so there was no dilly-dallying to wait for good light for photographs. But good snow is good snow whether the sun is up or down.
Upper elevations were pretty wind affected, but down low the storm came with no wind. The snow was truly fantastic. Can you say “rooster tail?”
Thanks for checking out FIS! If you’re like me, and you’re an east coaster loving the snow… you owe it to yourself to check out Allen’s Video from the PNW. Seriously awesome.
