Baker + Wind = :/

Joel drops into the Roman wall. Conditions were highly variable. Rime, sastrugi, and crusts were everywhere. The wind hadn’t lost any strength either.

It got icy.


Drew watches Will make a turn near the bottom of Heliotrope.


Joel, nearing the end of the alpine. (we had plenty of road skiing left)

As we finished the day with Rainiers by the car. We were all feeling quite tired, much more so than usual on a Baker summit day. A quick look at the GPS revealed that we had hiked 8500 vertical feet, 1400 vert more than usual thanks to all the road skiing. It was a tiring day and even though we didn’t get to ski our intended line I still had a ton of fun.
