Fall: From Low to High
Skiing in October at Stowe wouldn’t be complete without at least one obligatory snowliage shot.
As we made our way down the mountain back down to the valley from a long-awaited day of schuss, the essence of fall–which in my mind is precisely the clash of a fading summer with a gathering winter–revealed itself in no uncertain terms.
Fall was displaying its contrasts from low to high.
As we took in these beautiful scenes though, The Famous Internet Skier in us couldn’t help but notice that, although we had already gone from low to high once during this stom, we had yet to go as high as we could. And as any backcountry skier worth their weight in p-tex surely knows: when in doubt, go up…
…and don’t stop….
…until you’ve run out of mountain.

wrote on October 18th, 2010 at 10:24 pmGreat shots as always, Greg. I wish I had had more of a chance to get out this weekend, but after my excursion to the bush (which had to be sadly cut short), I had a blast, and am now proudly able to say that I’ve skied in October.
I can’t wait for the next snowfall!

wrote on October 18th, 2010 at 11:18 pmgreat TR Greg and photos are just wild. I was tripping on the contrast of the foliage and the wintry lookout I found myself in on Saturday, too, sunny leaf-covered hills in the valley, howling winds and snow underfoot. Bring it.

We will get together soon though. I have a feeling :D
